Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
