The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish true story regarding the shamed religious broadcaster plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor portrays the venal Jim, who declares at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. He and Tammy Faye commence monetising the nation's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, though Chastain achieves to depict the character in a likable light. October 14th, early morning, on Film4
